When Space Is Tight, Reach for These Pneumatic Cylinders
Selecting the right pneumatic actuator for your application isn’t just a matter of stroke, force and speed. How much room you have to work with also plays a big role. When real estate is tight, look for space-saving pneumatic actuators like the DSNU-S and ADN-S series. Here’s a quick rundown of each:
DSNU-S Round Cylinders
The DSNU-S is a slimmer, shorter and lighter-weight version of our ISO standards-based DSNU series cylinder, offering even greater space savings. Compared to the DSNU, the DSNU-S is up to 3.5 centimeters shorter and 40 percent slimmer. In addition to their space-saving features, including a slim mounting thread and spanner flats for easy assembly, these units include self-adjusting pneumatic end-position cushioning, which saves valuable commissioning time and adapts to load and speed changes.
Other features of the DSNU-S include:
- Low-wear polyurethane (PUR) seals
- Corrosion-resistant, stainless steel piston rod and cylinder barrel
- Magnetic piston for position sensing
- Available in a version for lithium ion battery manufacturing
- Bore sizes: 8 to 25 millimeters
- Maximum stroke: 200 millimeters
- Threaded bearing and end cap (sizes 20–25) for direct mounting and mounting accessories
Compact, Double-Acting ADN-S Series
The ADN-S is a small, lightweight cylinder that delivers excellent performance with short strokes, thanks to its one-piece, ultra-compact housing. Units are up to 45 percent shorter than compact ISO cylinders of the same bore size and stroke. The housing includes laser-etched end-position markings to aid in the commissioning of position feedback sensors.
Other features include:
- Piston rod with internal or external thread
- Magnetic piston for position sensing
- Available in a version for lithium ion battery manufacturing
- Bore sizes: 6–63 millimeters
- Standard stroke lengths: 5–50 millimeters
